# How to create a Buy 1 Get 1 coupon?

A Buy X Get Y coupon lets you reward customers when they purchase a specific
quantity of items. This is a good option when you want to run promotions such as
buy 1 get 1 free, buy 2 get 1 free, or similar quantity-based offers.


START CREATING A NEW COUPON

Open your StoreLink dashboard and go to the Coupons section, then click + New
Coupon.






CHOOSE THE COUPON TYPE

Under Coupon, select Buy X Get Y. This type lets you define how many items a
customer needs to buy and what item they receive as the discount.



For example, you can offer:

 * Buy 1, get 1 free

 * Buy 2, get 1 free





ENTER THE COUPON CODE

Add the coupon code your customers will enter at checkout.






SET THE BUY X GET Y RULES

Use the Customer buys and Customer gets sections to decide what a customer needs
to purchase and what they will receive for free.

Under Customer buys, enter the Buy quantity. This is the number of items the
customer must add to their cart to qualify for the offer.

Under Applies to, you can choose Products or Categories. Here, we will choose
Products. This means the coupon will only apply when the customer buys specific
products, rather than any product in a category.


After choosing Products, click Select Products.




Select the product the customer must purchase to qualify for the promotion. This
is the product that triggers the Buy X Get Y offer.





Under Customer gets, enter the Free quantity. This is the number of items the
customer will receive for free once the buy condition is met.



Under Applies to, choose whether the free item should come from specific
products or categories. Then, click Select Products to choose the product the
customer gets for free. This can be the same product they are buying or a
different product, depending on how you want the promotion to work.






SET DISCOUNT CRITERIA

If needed, you can set order limits for the coupon. For example, you can require
a minimum order amount before the coupon can be used, or set a max uses per
order to limit how many times the coupon can be used on a single order. This
helps you run more targeted promotions and avoid using the discount on orders
that do not meet your requirements.






CHOOSE THE COUPON VALIDITY

Set the start date and end date to control when the coupon is active. Customers
will only be able to use the coupon during this time period. You can also choose
how often the coupon can be used:

 * Once Per Customer for one-time use

 * Unlimited if customers can use it multiple times




SAVE THE COUPON

Once everything is set up, click Create Coupon to save the coupon. It will then
be available for customers to use at checkout.






TEST THE COUPON

To make sure the coupon works as expected, go to your online store, add eligible
items to the cart, and proceed to checkout. Enter the coupon code and click
Apply.





The discount will appear in the order total immediately once the coupon
conditions are met.
