# How to create a flat discount coupon?

A flat discount coupon gives customers a fixed amount off their order or product
total, such as $20 off. This article will walk you through creating a flat
discount coupon in your online store on StoreLink.


START CREATING A NEW COUPON

First, open your StoreLink dashboard and navigate to the Coupons section. Click
on +New Coupon to get started.




COUPON TYPE

Choose Amount Off Order or Amount Off Product as the coupon type. These options
let you apply a fixed discount to the entire order total, or a discount to
specific products or categories.




DISCOUNT VALUE

Under the discount value settings, choose Flat discount. This option subtracts a
fixed amount from the total order.

For example, if you enter $20, the customer will receive $20 off the order total
at checkout.






SAVE THE COUPON

Once everything is set up, click Create Coupon to save the coupon. It will then
be available for customers to use at checkout.




TEST THE DISCOUNT COUPON

To make sure the coupon works as expected, go to your online store, add items to
the cart, and proceed to checkout. Enter the coupon code and click Apply.



The discount will appear in the order total immediately.
