How to generate a business name.

One keyword is enough. A sentence gives the generator more to work with.

  1. Describe what you sell

Type a keyword like "candles", or a full description like "handmade soy candles in Lagos". The generator reads every word and ignores filler like "my" and "business".

  2. Read the first twelve

Each name shows how it was built: coined, compound, two words, a real word, or a playful respelling. Press Show 12 more for another page.

  3. Fine-tune if nothing lands

Open Fine-tune to pick a style, a vibe, and a length. The names on screen update as you choose. A different vibe on the same keyword gives a completely different set.

  4. Shortlist and check it

Save the ones you like. Then check the web address is free, search the name, and check the trademark register where you trade.

Six ways to build a business name.

Every name the generator makes uses one of these. Knowing which one you want makes the shortlist much shorter.

  • Coined

    Candela, Emberly, Kineo

An invented word built from a root and an ending. Nothing else owns it, so the web address is usually free and the trademark is usually clear. It means nothing until you give it a meaning.

  • Compound

    Emberwick, Flourfield, Everglow

Two real words fused into one. It stays readable and says something about the business. The most reliable way to get a name that is both available and understood.

  • Two words

Clasp & Co., Wick Supply Co., Rare Foil

A short phrase. It reads as an established business and works well on a sign or a label. Longer to type, and harder to fit in a handle.

  • Real words

    Ember, Hearth, Harvest

One existing word used out of context. The strongest names in any category are often these. They are also the hardest to register, because everyone else wants them too.

  • Playful

    Whiskr, Kandl, Designr

A respelling of a word people already know. It stays recognisable while freeing up the web address. It can also be misheard on the phone, so say it out loud first.

  • Borrowed

Casa Ember, Terra Wick, Maison Kiln

An English word paired with one from another language. It gives a plain product a sense of place. Check the meaning with a native speaker before you commit.

Check a name before you commit.

A name you cannot register is not a name. Run every shortlisted idea through these seven checks.

  • Say it out loud

Read it down a phone line. If someone has to ask how it is spelled, every customer will ask too.

  • Check the web address

Search for the exact name before you fall for it. A free Store.link address is instant; a matching domain may not be.

  • Search the name

Look for another business using it, especially in your category and your country. Check social handles at the same time.

  • Check the trademark register

Search the register where you trade. A name already registered in your class is a name you will have to give up later.

  • Test it in another language

Coined and borrowed names carry meanings you did not intend. Ask someone who speaks the languages your customers do.

  • Leave room to grow

A name that describes one product will hold you to it. "Delhi Candle Company" is hard to sell soap under.

  • Write it down small

Put it on a label, an invoice, and a phone screen. Long names and awkward letter pairs fail at those sizes first.

Business name generator questions.

How does the business name generator work?

It reads your keyword or description, matches it to a category in its word list, then builds names from those words using six naming methods. Every name is checked for pronunciation before it is shown.

Does it use AI?

No. The names are built in your browser from a written word list and a set of naming rules. Nothing is sent to a server, so results appear instantly and cost nothing.

Is the business name generator free?

Yes. It is free with no signup and no limit on how many names you generate.

Can I use these names for my business?

Yes. Names are generated from common words and are not owned by Store.link. Check availability and the trademark register in your country before you register the name.

How do I check if a business name is available?

Search the name on the web, check social handles, and search the trademark register where you trade. Then check the web address you want is free.

What makes a good business name?

It should be easy to say, easy to spell after hearing it, and free to register. It should also still fit if you add products later.

How long should a business name be?

Two syllables and under twelve characters is a good target. Shorter names are easier to say, easier to fit on a label, and easier to type.

Can I get a web address with my new name?

Yes. Every Store.link store comes with a free address at yourname.store.link. You can connect your own domain later on a paid plan.

Are the names I generate saved or uploaded?

Nothing is uploaded. The names are built on your device, and your shortlist stays in the page until you close it.

Why do I get different names each time I press Generate?

Each press draws a new set from the same word list. Press Show 24 more to add to the current list instead of replacing it.
